- Solar panels are expensive to manufacture each panel has 40% efficiency meaning single panels cannot produce sufficient power.
- Solar energy has limitate use e.g. it cannot be used to run heavy machinery. Its use is confined to household appliances.
- It is difficult to store solar energy. It can only be stored in small portable batteries. Storage batteries are cumbersome and must be replaced often.
