Organization and Approach.
- The organization of T&V is based on the number of farm families or households that one
extension worker can reasonably be expected to cover.
- The extension worker-farmer ratio may vary from 1:1200 to 1:300, with an average of 1:800
- All farm families under one extension worker are divided into 8 groups of about equal size. The extension workers then work with contact farmers, representing 10% of this group.
- The extension workers operate on a fixed fortnightly schedule of visits to farmers (time-
table). The extension worker has 2 days of training each fortnight, with 8 days of visits to
farmers.
1 st training (wk1) – report on problem, needs, progress
2 nd training (wk2) receives advice (information/technical skills to pass to farmers during the next week.
