A difficult child can be defined as a child who acts defiant, aggressive, stubborn and loud.
The following are strategies a preschool teacher can use to ensure aquisition of positive behaviour:
(1)Giving the child a lot of positive attention -This children are naturally negative it is therefore advisable to give the child positive attention so that the child may acquire the positive behaviours and traits.
(2)If the child becomes aggressive and abusive in a school situation as a teacher it is good to tell the child that you cannot control his behaviour only consequences can .Avoiding physical confrontation ,this teaches the child that he has choices and he/she got to be responsible for them.
(3)Reviewing the events ahead before they happen -the teacher is supposed to tell the child that we are going for physical education may be in the next 30 minutes .This helps prepare the child mentally.
(4)Creating a predictable environment and routine -the teacher could create a chat to predict what the difficult child is doing at each particular time .
