i) National development plans have always tried to address the issue of inequality
in education
ii) The Kamunge report highlights the issue of the disadvantaged lot in the society
iii) The policy of bottom up/ introduction of the county governments
iv) Introduction of the school milk programme in the 1980s and sanitary towels
was meant to address the problem of inequity
v) Introduction of the quarter system of admitting students into the national
schools is pegged on 15% best from each county into national schools and 85%
into the schools within the county.
vi) Introduction of mobile schools in arid and semi-arid parts of the country.
vii) Centrally planned curriculum of books, examinations, and marking and
continuous curriculum review
viii) Introduction of FPE and FDSE. These were meant to address the issue of access
of educ. to the Kenyan masses.
ix) Cost sharing in schools
x) The government has been trying to post qualified teachers to all schools in the
country.
