1. The dissatisfaction of the worker, sometimes due to uninteresting nature of work.
Employees want to make a life out of work rather than just a living.

2. Political nature of unions. This may result to inter- union rivalry and the inability to carry
out constructive activities or to play an effective role in collective bargaining.
Politicization of labour unions by outside political leaders leads to multiple unions and
inter-union rivalry.

3. Poor wage and salary differentials between occupations which create a feeling of inequity
and may spoil good industrial relations. This happens where there are too tight or
complicated wages or payment system.

4. Occupational instability, this makes workers feel insecure in their jobs. Workers who
have held a job for several years generally win confidence on that job and do not like any
change being made in the job due to fear of the following:
-The new job may not give them satisfaction as the earlier job.
-New job will reduce their wages and seniority structure
-The new job will require them to undergo some training
-New job will require them to undergo some training
-New job will change the existing social relationships.
-New job will reduce opportunities for growth and development.

5. Poor behavioral climate, which is made of its culture, traditions and methods of action. A
favorable climate is one which helps workers meet their economic, social and
psychological wants. An unfavorable climate prevents workers from meeting their
various types of needs. It drives the workers to seek membership of militant labour
organizations where they can vent their negative feelings and fight against the employer.
