over-sowing is the technique of sowing/growing grasses without following the land preparation procedures like seedbed preparation
The following are the advantages of over-sowing
1. Availability of adequate moisture for germination to take place.
2. prevents soil erosion and repair patches, due to the ground cover provided by the already existing crops, soil erosion will be reduced
3. over-sowing also reduces the risk of overtaking weeds because of the good ground cover that will be created, the ground cover will help in reducing competition between the weeds and the lawn or any plant of interest.
4. Over-sowing can also be done in areas where ploughing is hard or impossible like rocky places
