(a) Guidance is a lifelong process. It is a continuous and sequential educational process. This process begins at home, continues to the school and into the society in that sequences. For this reason there is need for parents, teachers and the community to be in harmony and cooperate so that the individual is guided to acquire the right behaviour and values.

(b) Guidance is concerned with the worth dignity, equality and freedom of the individuals.

(c) Guidance relies on cooperation not compulsion.

(d) Guidance is concerned with the systematic personal development of the individual in the areas of academic, social and personal adjustment.
