It inhibits the secretion of pancreatic enzymes and the contractions of the gall bladder.

It increases gut motility and gastric emptying. Secretion of pancreatic polypeptide is stimulated by intestinal hormones including cholecystokinin, secretin and gastrin

(Cholecystokinin is produced in small intestine – duodenum and ileum – in response to the presence of protein and fat in small intestine. It stimulates enzyme secretion by pancreas and inhibits gastric emptying.

Secretin is produced in duodenum in response to the presence of acid in duodenum. It stimulates bi-carbonate secretion from pancreas.

Gastrin is produced in distal stomach in response to high gastric pH, presence of protein in stomach and vagal stimulation. It stimulates acid secretion from stomach glands. It also stimulates gastric motility).
