Land was not fully utilized as the land that was left fallow produced nothing
The cart tracks and paths that went through the fields that were not fenced wasted land
The practice of ploughing the fallow lands and leaving them idle was a waste of labor and time
Families had to walk long distances to reach their fields because they were scattered all over
It discouraged livestock keeping and made it difficult to practice selective farming because diseases spread very easily due to common grazing field for the livestock
It was no easy to get enough hay for winter breeding hence farmers were forced to slaughter their animals in autumn and have the meat salted for later use
