This is a model (approach) of teaching resulting from the concept of curriculum linking in which various disciplines and subjects are presented as inter-connected; the aim being to achieve the objectives in the areas where the subjects interact. The interdisciplinary approach presupposes a thorough knowledge of the various concepts in the disciplines being linked. Interdisciplinary approach is a teaching method in which two or more disciplines are expressed in terms of their interrelationships. This approach advocates the integration or linking of EE with existing school subjects. The interdisciplinary approach was supported by the recommendations of the Tbilisi Conference (specifically Recommendation No .12) which urged member states to initiate efforts or continue to strengthen existing ones, in order to incorporate environmental issues in various disciplines .
In the interdisciplinary approach, each discipline brings to the study of environmental issues its particular vocabulary, approach and instruction process independent of others. Teachers single out relevant points in which to concentrate. This method aims at bringing an awareness of the correlations existing in certain environmental phenomena that might be overlooked in a single disciplinary approach.
