The hydrosphere is the liquid water component of the earth. It is the earth’s global reserve of water in the form of vapour, liquid or ice. The bulk of the hydrosphere is found in the world oceans.
One of the roles played by the oceans in the overall environmental systems, is that of modification of climate in terms of tempering seasonal extremes. Oceans supply water vapour to the atmosphere and thereby affect climate. They also sustain a vast and complex marine life- plants and animals.
