The speaker of the county assembly plays the following roles:
(1) Presides over county assembly debates-At every sitting the speaker is responsible for presiding over every debate that takes place.
(2) Incase of misconduct the speaker is responsible of disciplining the members for example by restricting them from attending various sittings.
(3) Keeps and maintains the county assembly attendance register-In every sitting the attendance register is taken and finally the speaker keeps it safe and provides it the next time a sitting happens.
(4) Issues orders and making rules –The speaker is responsible of issuing orders for the regulations of visitors of the county assembly precincts.
(5) Administering oath of allegiance-The speaker administers oath of affirmation to its members.
