(i) The ultimate aim of the family is to provide for all the needs of its members, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

(ii) The family is a socio-religious unit where all members participate in the social and religious activities.

(iii) It was instituted by God on the foundation of marriage.

(iv) It consists of several nuclear families related to one another through blood, marriage and adoption.

(v) It consists of husband, wife (wives), children, grandparents, uncles, aunts, adopted children, in-laws, ancestors and the yet to be born.

(vi) The clan has final decision on family issues such as marriage, security and observance of customs.

(vii) Family relationships are strong and are governed by regulation and taboos within the family unit.

(viii) The husband is the head of the family and is to be listened to, obeyed and respected by all his wife ( wives) and children.

(ix) Each member of the family has a special obligation to fulfill towards the others.

(x) Wives are responsible for their homesteads.
