1. When Moses delayed on mountain, Israelites thought that he had abandoned them.

2. The people become impatient and restless and asked Aaron to make them a god who could lead them

3. Aaron made a golden calf from the rings of gold and silver which he received from people

4. They worshiped the golden calf and offerings and peace offerings.

5. Aaron built an alter for their god and proclaimed a day of worship

6. God was angry with the Israelites for worshiping the golden calf and wanted to destroy them

7. Moses pleaded with God not to destroy them

8. God listened to Moses' intercession

9. Moses came down down the mountain with stone tablets on which the ten commandments were written

10. Moses was angry and threw down the tablets breaking them

11. Moses burnt the calf, ground it to powder, scattered it upon the water and made the people drink it.

12. Moses ordered the faithful Israelites to kill those who broken the covenant.
