Saylor (1981) defined content as those facts, observations, data, perceptions, discernments, sensibilities, designs, and solutions drawn from what the minds of men have comprehended from experience and those construct of the minds that reorganize and those construct of the minds that reorganize and re-arrange these products of experience into lore, ideas, concepts, generalizations, principles, and solutions.

The word content is used interchangeably with terms such as subject matter, knowledge, concepts, and ideas.
