Martin
a) TO THE FAMILY

1) It relieves the patient’s family from seeing those they love suffer so much in bed, especially those suffering from chronic fatal diseases. This is because of the high cost of treatment by the family members in terms of financially, emotionally and mentally.

2. Psychological reassurance: legalizing euthanasia might get family members reassured and knowing that euthanasia is a possible alternative if their dying was to be painful.

b) TO THE PATIENT

1) Patients seek relief such as unremitting severe pain, breathing difficulties such as choking, suffocation, nausea and vomiting.

2) Eliminate the stress of the terminally ill patient which is the constant worry and concern about the well-being of family and friends who are often spending time taking care of the dying loved ones
