Perception is the process of organizing and interpreting information received and formatting images of the world

Perception can also mean the process that organizes sensations into meaningful objects and events

Perception is the organization, identification, and interpretation of sensory information in order to represent and understand the environment (Rothwell, 2000). All perception involves signals in the nervous system which in turn result from physical or chemical stimulation of the sense organs. The sensory information is interpreted in the light of: learning, memory, expectations and attention. Our sense of security or insecurity is dependent on how we perceive our environment.
