(i) Adolescents feeling grown up-The rapid physical development that result in adolescents having big bodies makes them feel grown ups therefore they get into arguments with parents when they think they are being treated like children.
(ii) Poverty/ economic status-Failure to meet basic needs of the adolescents may lead to differences.
(iii) Hormones-The hormonal changes taking place in adolescents may make them moody/ irritable resulting to conflicts with parents when parents talk to them/ ask them to perform certain tasks.
(iv) Drug abuse-Some adolescents abuse drugs which alter their moods making them irritable/ quickly angered.
(v) Peer influence/ pressure-The adolescents peers may have different values/ demands from those of the adolescents parents resulting in conflicts when adolescents give in to poor peer demands/ values.
(vi) Adolescent's new interests-As they enter adolescence children may neglect their school work/ household chores spend more time preoccupied with new interests/ body image/ music/ films/ internet/ fashion fads.
(vii) Authoritarian/ harsh/ strict parents-Parents who are authoritarian try control adolescents too much/ impose too many rules/ demands/ do not listen to their view points/may cause conflicts with them.
