(i) Gender of the teacher/ cultural factors-Students are not allowed to express themselves when the counselor is of opposite sex.

(ii) Ineffective communication-Some students are not proficient/ are fearful/ anxious/ lack of self confidence in expressing themselves.

(iii) Inadequate resources/ facilities-Schools/ teachers lack essentials for counseling/ counseling rooms/ furniture.

(iv) Lack of training-Most teachers lack knowledge/ skills in guidance and counseling.

(v) Role conflict-Teachers are allocated/ have many different duties which interfere with their counseling role.

(vi) Negative attitude-School administrators/ students/ guardians/ parents may not support the teacher counselor.

(vii) Lack of time-Schools/administrators do not allocate time for guidance and counseling in the time table.

(viii) Heavy work load/ understaffing-Teachers have too much work in the school therefore do not have time to guide and counsel.
