(i) Play promotes leadership skills/ the children learn to take responsibility in leading others.

(ii) It promotes discovery of talents/ enhances development of talents/ abilities.

(iii) It promotes social skills by playing with others, children learn acceptable behaviour/ how to interact with others/ sharing/ co-operation/ turn taking/ consideration.

(iv) Promotes cognitive development-as children play with different play materials/ as they manipulate the play materials, they disclose/ find out about things by listening to their sounds/ smell/ feel or texture.

(v) Play helps to develop eye-hand co-ordination when trying to make play materials fit together/ form pattern.

(vi) It promotes emotional development-as children play, they act out their inner feelings/ reduce stress/ gain self confidence/ release aggressive instincts.

(vii) Promotes language development as children play together they learn vocabulary/ new words from other children/ practice their language skills.

(viii) It promotes physical development/ enhances the development of fine and gross motor skills that is, manipulation of small and large muscles respectively.
