(i) Garbage collection by the local authority.
Refuse is put in dustbins provided by the local authorities who arrange the emptying and disposal once or twice a week.

(ii) Garbage collection by private organization.
Polythene paper bags are provided by private organizations at a fee for refuse collection.

(iii) Burning.
Used for disposing organic refuse for example, vegetation and papers.

(iv) Burying.
It is used for disposing inorganic refuse for example, batteries, pieces of metal and organic refuse such as animal carcasses.

(v) Feeding to animals.
It is suitable for organic refuse for example, fruit peels, leftover foods and vegetable stocks.

(vi) Recycling.
It involves reusing bottles and containers for the storage of water or food.

(vii) Compositing.
This involves heaping organic refuse in pit to form manure.
