(i) Bend his head forward to prevent swallowing the blood.

(ii) Grasp the bridge of his/ her nose firmly with his/ her thumb and forefinger and holds for ten minutes to aid in clotting of the blood.

(iii) Use a wet piece of cloth around the nose to lower the temperature.

(iv) Not blow his/ her nose for sometime after bleeding has stopped lest it starts again.

(v) Be taken to the clinic for medical advice/ assistance if bleeding is not controlled after attempts.

(vi) Should be encouraged to spit out any blood that flows into the mouth to avoid choking.
