(i) They can easily be contaminated during preservation process, packaging and storage.

(ii) Their flavour is normally altered during processing making them less palatable for the child.

(iii) During processing they lose some of their nutritional value needed in development of the child.

(iv) They are expensive compared to food made at home leading to high cost in the food budget for his family.

(v) The foods may be high in some ingredients that may cause health problems to children for example, fat-leading to obesity, sugar-leading to increase of sugar levels in the blood and salt-leading to hypertension.

(vi) They have a lot of addictives such as colouring, flavouring and preservatives whose constant use may be hazardous to the child's health.
