(i) Accidents caused by sharp objects in the eye when they are playing, which may damage iris and retina thus causing blindness.

(ii) Severe head injuries leading to injury of the optic nerves thus leading to blindness.

(iii) Poor hygiene, where there are problems of water and therefore children's eyes are not often kept clean. This encourages houseflies to transmit disease germs to the dirty eye.

(iv) Poor diet, which lacks vitamin A which is necessary for prevention of night blindness/ Kerato-Malacia.
The sources of Vitamin A are carrot, Sukuma wiki, pawpaw and other yellow fruits.

(v) Clouding on the front part of the eye or Cataract.
Cataract occurs when the pupils is white and therefore the child cannot see properly.
