(i) Moses was in the wilderness tending the flock of his father-in-law Jethro.

(ii) An angel of the Lord appeared to him in the form of a burning bush at the foot of Mount Sinai.

(iii) Moses moved closer to see why the bush was burning and yet it was not being consumed.

(iv) God called him by name and commanded him to remove his shoes because the ground on which he was standing was holy.

(v) God revealed Himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

(vi) Moses was filled with fear and hid his face.

(vii) Moses was commanded to go back to Egypt and be God's instrument in saving the Hebrews.

(viii) Moses was reluctant to take up the task.

(ix) God had promised to protect him.

(x) Moses inquired to know God's name.
God revealed to him His divine name (Yahweh).

(xi) In Egypt, Moses was to assemble the elders, ask for permission from the Pharaoh and lead the Israelites to the promised land.

(xii) The Israelite women were to borrow jewellery and clothing from the Egyptian women and carry them on their journey.

(xiii) Yahweh foresaw the reluctance of Pharaoh but promised to send wonders in Egypt that would eventually force Pharaoh to yield.

(xiv) On their way to the promised land the Israelites were to pass by Mount Sinai and worship Yahweh.
