The reasons that led to the start of local trade are:
Climatic and environmental conditions: these conditions affect distribution of plants and animals. Situations arise where people’s requirements are obtained through trade
Uneven distribution of resources: no regions have all natural resources they require
Specialization: some skills were preserve for a few people. The people lacked skills acquired what they could not produce through trade
Surplus production: trade developed as a result of surplus production and the need to meet demand. People exchanged the excess of what they had in plenty with what they needed from other communities.
