(i) It takes a relatively long time to light firewood therefore is not quick in use.
(ii) Wood fire needs constant attention-restarting the fire and replenishing wood.
(iii) It is not easy to regulate heat when using firewood.
(iv) Cutting trees and shrubs for firewood depletes the environment of vegetation cover which may lead to desertification.
(v) It is cumbersome and time consuming to cut, collect, transport and store firewood due to its bulk.
(vi) The smoke produced may irritate the eyes and cause respiratory diseases especially when to poor ventilated areas.
(vii) The use of firewood is messy-the soot and smoke produced blackens surfaces and hands.
