a) i) The hot cathode emits cathode rays (fast moving electron) which are accelerated towards the target by high
voltage; and they hit metal target producing X-rays;
ii) Increase the accelerating voltage.
b) i) X- plates deflect the spot / beam horizontally.
ii) Grid regulates the intensity of the beam of electrons.
