(a) Action research is conducted with the primary intention of solving a specific, immediate and concrete problem in a local setting. For example, a researcher could investigate ways of overcoming water shortage in a certain geographical area.
Action research is not concerned with whether the results are generalized to any other setting since its major goal is seek a solution to a given problem.
It’s very useful because it provides answers to problems that cannot wait for theoretical solutions.

(b) (i) It is non-threatening and easily explained and understood by the children in the class.

(ii) It is relevant as it considers the unique environment that results from the combination of the teacher's unique characteristics and those of children in her/ his class.

(iii) To reflect the teaching to help to seek for more knowledge to improve on the skills and strategies of how to do better.

(iv) To explore and test new ideas/ methods/ materials.

(v) To assess how effective the new approaches are to make decisions about new approaches.

(vi) To focus on researchers own teaching practices in order to intervene if the teaching practices have challenges.

(vii) Provide a practical/ concrete solutions to problems to hence a smooth transition in pre-school.
