They wish to die so as to be liberated from suffering.

(ii) Homes for the aged have been established to care for them.

(iii) Respect is now given to the rich and educated and not the aged.

(iv) The aged suffer loneliness because the young live in urban centres or in schools.

(v) Old age is seen as a burden by most people because the aged are viewed to be dependants.
