(iii) Cultic prophets were prophets whose duties were associated with places of worship. They assisted the priests in carrying out their duties and their life depended on the institution of prophethood.

(iv) True prophets were prophets who acted on behalf of God and their messages were fulfilled. They upheld the Covenant Law.

(v) False prophets were prophets who claimed to speak in the name of Yahweh yet their messages never came to pass.

(vi) Major prophets are prophets whose writings are elaborate and detailed as given by God for example, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Daniel and Isiah.

(vii) Minor prophets are prophets whose books contain brief oracles for example, Joel, Obadiah, Micah and Amos.
