Political unification: the unification of boar and British republics in 1910 to form the union of South Africa contributed to the industrialization of South Africa as it led to market enlargement. This has improved manufacturing and industrial investment
Government policy: the deliberate successive government policies for several years, based on apartheid contributed to a more diversified industrial development which favored the whites at the expense of the blacks.
