This is a long-term development plan for the country that is motivated by the collective aim for a better society by the year 2030 and starting the year 2008.
The aim of the vision 2030 is to create a globally prosperous country with a high quality of life by the year 2030. It aims at transforming Kenya into an industrializing middle income country providing high quality of life to its citizens in a clean and pure environment
The vision is a product of a highly participatory, consultative and inclusive stakeholders’ process carried out between October 2006 and May 2007. The vision is to be implemented in five year medium term plans with the first period covering the period from 2008 to 2012.
The vision is based on three pillars: the social, economic and political pillars.
The economic pillar objective is to achieve and maintain a sustained growth of 25% annually for the next ten years. This is to be achieved through tourism, increased value in agriculture, inclusive wholesale and retail sector, manufacturing for regional market and business process offshoring
The social pillars aims at creating a cohesive society enjoying equitable social development in a clean and secure environment to be achieved through education and training, the health sector, water and sanitation and housing and urbanization
The objective of the political pillar is to create an issue based, people centered, result oriented and accountable democratic political society
