-The intermolecular bonding forces are strong and the particles are unable to move from one point to another.
-Instead the particles vibrate within the same position when an external energy such as heat, electrical , mechanical are introduced but are not able to move.

Liquids
-The intermolecular forces are weaker; venderwaals force, and the particles are free to move from one point to another WITHIN the liquid.
