Put a sample of the solution in three separate test tubes
To one portion add ammonia solution dropwise till in excess.White precipitate soluble in excess confirms zinc ions.
To the second portion add barium nitrate solution.white precipitate forms. To the precipitate add nitric (v) acid or hydrochloric acid,if precipitate doesn’t dissolve (SO42-) confirmed.
