(i) They considered the prophet a cursed one therefore not worthy of claiming prophethood.

(ii) Tribalism and clannism, some opposed the prophet just because he was from a different clan.

(iii) The Arabs were ignorant as some did not have a reason to stop their practices.

(iv) They branded Islam to be a religion that allowed its followers to share and did not allow gambling, hoarding,among other practices.

(v) Islam and prophet championed for equality of man yet the Arabs believed to be a superior race.

(vi) Islam was against idol worship.

(vii) The prophet was considered a young man to claim prophethood yet there were persons who were prominent in Makkah.

(viii) The non-Muslims did not want to abandon the religion of their forefathers.

(ix) The non-Muslims of Makkah did not want to believe in unseen God.
