(i) Half-wave rectification
(ii) During the first half cycle, the diode is forward biased, hence current flows in the second half cycle, the diode is reverse biased therefore no current flow. In the next cycle, the process repels itself.
(iii) - Output cycle is not smooth.
- Power loss at the half-cycle is eliminated.
