Amina is in deep trouble with her brother and Father for going against the family's wishes. When the story opens ,Modio physically assaults her with a view to forcing her to change her mind about Yalla, the love of her life. She resists the brother, shouts at him to leave her alone. When the brother strikes her and reminds her about Jama, she tells him off.She defiantly assures Modio that she and Yalla would be together that evening. In the end that is what happens.
Amina loves Yalla deeply, the same way Yalla loves her. In spite of the frustrations she gets from the brother, she thinks about Yalla the tall, wide shouldered young man. These wonderful thoughts inspire her to getting her man.
The secret plans that she and Yalla have about their ellopment keeps their love getting ever stronger.Yalla is to escape with her before Jama comes to complete payment of the bride price. And indeed they escape together.
Yalla is determined to have Amina as his wife. His determination wins him his love when he successfully escapes with her to his hut. Amina's brothers attempt to stop them fails. Not even the arrows are enough to derail their mission. The day ends triumphantly for the love birds.
