Solve the following simultaneous equations using the substitution method.
x + y = 5

from equation (1) x = 5 – y
equation (2) will be y (5 – y) = 6
thus 5y – y^2 = 6
y^2 – 5y + 6 = 0 on factorizing
it will be (y- 3) (y – 2) = 0
thus when y = 3, x =2
thus when y = 2, x = 3
