i) - If the observations are made by one person, an element of subjectivity creeps in, making the data unreliable.

- If the individual makes the choice of where to conduct the observations, the information collected will be biased.

- The field study is on formation of fold feature and the researcher will not be able to collect information on the processes of rock formation as they took place in the past.

- It may be difficult to understand the changes that have taken place over time, which may lead to wrong conclusions.

- Where the data does not exist near the researcher, it may involve travelling, making the method expensive and time-consuming.

- It is a method that is affected by extreme weather conditions for example, fog,mist, and heavy rainfall.

ii) - Collecting rock samples.

- Reading from secondary sources
- Photographing/filming/video recording
- Taking notes
- Filling-in the questionnaires
