Motivation are energizing conditions that direct an organism's behavior usually toward a certain goal.

-In broad sense motivation is a series of stage which begins with stimulus or need.

-The stimulus then triggers a motive which in turn activates and directs behavior.

"Motivation is the desire within an individual that stimulates him or her to action."(George R. Terry)

It is "the complex of forces starting and keeping a person at work in an organization".(Robert Dubin)
