• They are taken through guidance and counseling on the importance of avoiding bad companies.

• For those with addiction, they are taken through a rehabilitation/medication process to help them come over the addiction.

• Creating awareness on the effects of drug abuse where students are taken through the effects or consequences of abusing drugs. They are told what is likely to happen to them when they abuse drugs. This helps them to make informed information.

• By engaging the students in co-curricular activities. It is worth noting that most students start abusing drugs when they are idle. So, when they are busy they might not take interest or have no time to think of abusing drugs.

• Students found to abuse drugs can also be punished or expelled from school. By doing this, they may refrain from using drugs again.

• Rewarding those students who stop abusing drugs might be a positive reinforcement. By giving them unconditional positive regard is a good encouragement to make them realize that not using a drug is the right thing to do.

• Medical intervention is also another way of helping those students who are abusing drugs. This is more especially for those who are already addicted to certain drugs. They undergo medication to remove the excess drugs in their body so that they can live a normal life again.
