Humanity and supernatural being are inseparable. Man has always been dependent to these higher authorities in his life time. Destiny of a man altogether is in the hands of deist so he has no total powers of his life. Being at the center therefore their controls are not all in favor to humanity. Man therefore has always been superstitious towards these beings.

Material possession. This is one field that supernatural beings are very sensitive in their control. As it is believed they are soul providers in the society of the pearl it’s not exemption. They also believe in this law. As providers, they are believed to loath a man who transcends the art of wanting something and turns to want it very much. Such kind of a person is punished. Kino, having been lived in object poverty, sees a wider opportunity of transforming his life to a glory the moment the fortune of getting the pearl befalls him. Kino seems to have forgotten the culture and all its sensible tenets. He becomes greedy perhaps this is what angers his gods thus punishing him. The pearl which is to be a bridge to his riches turns out to be evil heaping on his life misfortunes that are unbearable.

Supernatural beings are also in charge of where a man lives. A man, in this society of the pearl is believed to be a custodian of a place he is placed at birth. Under this precept, gods forbids anyone vacating the place he was put in at first. Kino all along seems to be at cross purpose with these gods. After sensing that his being cheated in la-paz, he says his pearl is not for sale and he will go to the capital (Loreto) perhaps there, he will find a better price. His resolution of going to the capital is a diversion from the road of the law. Kino kills a man and that defies another law of the very land hence he had to flee from la-paz to avoid wrath of people. Kino is pursued whenever he is in the mountain and the struggle between him and the pursuers erupt and their son coyotito is killed in the struggle when his cry is disguised of that of a coyote. Assumption could be Coyotito’s death is punishment from gods of the land because Kino had failed to adhere to the rules.
When fishermen also once thought they are being manipulated over the real price of their pearls, they said enough is enough and there was a need for change. They decided to be collecting their pearl and give one of them as an agent to go and sell in their behalf in the capital. The first agent did not come back neither the second and no one knew their whereabouts so fishermen gave up with the plan. Failure of this agent to turn up could be a punishment from gods.
Gods controls man’s fate. The chance of getting the pearl of the world was very minimal. Kino somehow is a blessed man fated to get it. While in the sea the family prays for luck of getting the pearl.

Deity forces are altogether invisible and beyond man’s control. Since no man is immortal, immortal beings have always been associated with the control of man’s life. Failure therefore by a man to adhere to their stipulated rules, there are some punishments. The pearl is also a superstition society that believes in the powers of supernatural beings. Therefore as a society they are under the control of these beings as discussed above.

For a moment she could not figure out her surroundings and called out the name of her sister Taiyo. She was terrified. The door flung open and Olarinkoi staggered in.He was stone drunk. Resian stared at him unblinkingly as he walked towards her and she backed off terrified, squeezing herself flatly against the wall.He followed her there and got hold of her shoulders and shook her violently glaring at her with his glittering eyes.

"You silly thing," he thundered angrily."I tell you to prepare food and you refuse to do so, eh? Today you will know who the owner of this home is .If you are still in doubt, let me tell you frankly that from today on you are my wife, hear that , eh?You are my wife. For a long time you have been sneering at me, showing how highly educated you are .Today we shall see how educated your body is!Yes, we shall see!"

Then desperately she took the last chance of self defense and self preservation.Mustering all her strength, she thrust his thumb into her mouth; sunk her teeth into the flesh like a ferocious animal and tenaciously held onto it, tugging at it fiercely like a lioness. She could feel the flesh tearing and she tasted the salt of his blood as it filled her mouth but she clung the thumb as Olarinkoi howled with pain.

Nora : Mr.Krogstad, a little respect for my husband please.
Krogstad: Certainly --all the respect he deserves. But since you haven't kept the matter so careful to yourself,I make bold to suppose that you have a little clearer idea, than you had yesterday, of what it actually is that you have done?
