Find the gradient first
Then form the equation using the general point (x,y) and one known point for each case above
a Gradient = (change in y)/(change in x)
= ((4-1))/((2-1))
= 3
Then ((y-1))/((x-1)) = 3/1
(y – 1) =3(x-1)
Y= 3x -2
b. Gradient = ((change in y))/((change in x))

= ((-5-3))/((1-2) )
=8
(y – 3) =8(x-2)
Y= 8x -13
c. Gradient = ((change in y))/((change in x))
= ((5--2))/((0--1) )
Then ((y--2))/((x--1)) = 7/1
Then ((y+2))/((x+1)) = 7/1
y = 7x+5

d. Gradient = ((change in y))/((change in x))
= ((7-4))/((-1-4) )
= 3/(-5)
Then ((y-4))/((x-4)) = 3/(-5)
Then ((y-4))/((x-4)) = 3/(-5)
y =3/(-5) x+4/5
