- Teaching low pay consequently it attracts people of low academic ability such individuals make teaching to be associated with mediocrity and less prestige.
- Teaching profession admits people with different entry requirement. Majority of teachers in pre-primary and primary levels are non-degree holders.
- Teachers meant to teach in nursery, primary, secondary school level should therefore pursue a bachelor of education degree to give teaching prestige.
- Different entry requirement of teacher’s education and consequently differentiated grading or ranks lowers the prestige of the teaching profession.
- Teaching is generally rural-based occupation where conditions of living are poor compared to these in urban areas - power, tap water, good road network.
