Lifestyle Diseases are diseases that people get as a result of the way they live. Many of these diseases are related to the social, cultural, religious and ethnic norms of one’s community and also its economic status. Some authorities have called them diseases of civilization (because they tend to increase as societies become more civilized) or diseases of longevity because they tend to increase with age; although some dispute the term longevity arguing that lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and heart disease are common in all age groups. Lifestyle diseases are different from other diseases because they are potentially preventable if the right lifestyle is adopted.
