- Diseases….long-term alcohol abuse can cause a number of diseases including cirrhosis of the liver, pancreatitis, epilepsy, alcoholic dementia, cardiovascular disease, peptic ulcers and cancer (especially brain cancer.)
- Nutritional deficiencies.
-Sexual dysfunction.
- Damage to the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system.
- A wide range of immunologic defects can result (Body not able to fight diseases).
- A generalized skeletal fragility.
-Tendency to accidental injury.
- A negative effect on reproductive functioning in women… such as nonovulation, decreased ovarian mass, problems or irregularity of the menstrual cycle, and early menopause.
- Alcoholic ketoacidosis (build-up of acid in the blood).
- Depression.
- Increased risk of suicide.
- Eventual death.
