- Fat (cholesterol) is produced by the liver for fuel.
- Digestion slows down or closes down so that more blood is available to the muscles.
- Muscles tense and release lactic acid into the bloodstream.
- Fists clench ready for action.
- Blood vessels and capillaries move to the skin surface to cool the body by perspiration.
- Adrenal glands situated near the kidneys release hormones, i.e. adrenaline and noradrenaline into the bloodstream.
- They serve to raise the heart beat rate.
- Widens airways to the lungs, constricts blood vessels supplying skin and intestines.
- Relaxes muscles at the opening of anus and bladder.
- Subcutaneous fat is released into the bloodstream to provide energy for the fight/flight response.
