Describe the sources of conflict

Answers

Faith
- Values
These are our fundamental principles. They are what we respect most and hence, think highly of. Thus, values are the core of that we are and what we stand for. These values apply to us individually as well as collectively. Values-based conflicts arise over ideological differences or differences in evaluation of ideas or behaviour. Values-based conflicts are the most challenging to deal with simply because being the core of the individual or group indentity, people never compromises them.

- Resources
These are what we require to fulfil a need (or a means of providing for a need(s). That is they are a means of achieving an end. Resources may be both natural (e.g. Land, Water, Wildlife, Minerals, etc) and artificial (e.g. Infrastructure, equipment, institutions, money, etc). Resource based conflicts arises out of competition for possession and use of scarce resources. As the saying goes ?the world?s resources may be adequate for every ones needs, but certainly not enough for few men's greed?.

Needs
These are human desires and necessities for survival. Needs may be actual (i.e. those without which we may not survive- such as food, clothing, shelter, transcendence, etc) or they may be perceived. (i.e. those without which we may not live particular standard of life- such as fancy clothes, good education, good cars, magnificent homes, etc). Needs-based conflicts arise out of our desire to fulfil these needs.
