-Sorghum is a vigorous grass which grows to a height of 0.5-6 m. Most of the roots are adventitious and fibrous, and are found within the top 1 m of the soil.
-There are a few prop roots which develop from the root primordia at the base of the, stems.
-Sorghum may or may not produce tiller depending on the cultivar. The inflorescence is a panicle borne at the terminal end of the stem.
-The panicle may be erect, pendent or goose-necked Sorghum is self-pollinated.
-The fruit is a caryopsiswhich ripens 1-2 months after fertilization.
-The grain varies in colour and may be yellow, red brown, purple, white or a mixture of the above colours depending on the cultivar.
-The grain also varies in size, and shape.
